Identify and extend Truststore used by a Weblogic 10.3 Server

This post shows how you can add a trusted certificate to a WebLogic 10.3 Server instances truststore.

Recently I had to configure a Weblogic 10.3 Server instance to be able to do secure communication over SSL. Therefor you sometimes have to add a trusted certificate to a truststore.

First of all you have to find the right truststore to extend. Open the console web interface and navigate as followed

Environment > Servers > (The server were you want to enable secure communication) > Keystores

On that page you can see the path to the truststore that needs to be extended. With the following two lines on the command line the truststore gets a certificate added.

cd /home/oracle/Middleware/home_soa11g/wlserver_10.3/server/lib

/home/oracle/Middleware/home_soa11g/jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -alias root -file certificate.cer -keystore DemoTrust.jks

If you are extending the demo trust stroe the password is DemoTrustKeyStorePassPhrase. More information on this topic can be found here.
