Git, JGit and EGit

Git is the new star at the version control system heaven.

It is a distributed version control system. The whole repository with complete history and every revision is stored at your local computer. That makes it a breeze to use, remote access is rarely needed and repository operations are very fast. Quite a few open source projects are already using Git, for example the Linux Kernel, Eclipse and Hibernate. With EGit it will be the upcoming default version control provider in the Eclipse IDE. EGit is implemented on top of JGit, a Java implementation of Git.
